What Is Repentance ?

Repentance is when one is truly sorry for a wrong action. Sincere repentance causes one to change their sinful direction. Genuine regret will facilitate a move towards Godly direction. It does not mean to say you are sorry then commence to repeat or express the same previous behavior. One must not confuse repentance with guilt. Oftentimes when one’s sinful behavior is exposed or they become self-conscious of wrongful behavior they will experience conflict. To alleviate their discomfort they may say “I’m sorry”. Saying sorry releases the immediate pressure. Don’t let sorry become a sorry meaningless word. True repentance impacts one to the point that the desire to modify their actions overrides the once prescribed behavior.

When one has compulsive behaviors their ability to relinquish such behavior may not immediately manifest. But admitting to oneself that their behavior needs modification is a favorable inception. The process to extinguish compulsive behaviors can sometimes be lengthy. However, the benefits yield self-control. Self- examination is a prerequisite on the road to recovery. Remember nothing is impossible with God.

When we become aware of behaviors that don’t produce the fruits of the spirit we should be thankful. Remember God is a spirit of truth. His truth will constantly allow us to see the folly of our ways. When we read and digest the scriptures it will promote spiritual growth. Spiritual growth will enlighten your perspective.

The old nature within us is enmeshed with a faulty response system. We must repattern our responses by fostering an internal environment which invites the infilling presence of the Holy Spirit. The new nature can arrest the old nature. Remember the power of God is stronger than anything! God’s power is unlimited. We never become the power but as His children we have access to it.

~ THE GREAT COMMISSION ~

“Then opened HE their understanding, that they might understand the Scriptures, And HE said to them;
‘Thus it is written, and thus it behoved CHRIST to suffer and rise from the dead the third day;
And that REPENTANCE & REMISSION of sins SHOULD BE PREACHED in HIS NAME among ALL NATIONS, beginning at JERUSALEM. And ye be Witnesses OF THE THINGS…” LUKE 24

We are called to be disciples of Jesus Christ. A disciple is a learner. Disciples must exercise discipline. Remember a fool speaks his whole mind. We should be slow to speak, quick to hear and slow to anger. God has given us His written WORD and His internal COMFORTER to lead guide and direct each of His children. Whenever we find ourselves in err we should welcome a repentant spirit. Our desire should not let pride nor man’s opinion prohibit humility.

John the Baptist constantly preached repentance! He boldly stated; “Repent! For the kingdom of God is at hand.” We have been thoroughly conditioned to respond in fashions that actually hinder our spiritual development. We can be consumed by what others think or how it appears rather than what God knows.

Never sacrifice inner peace for exterior acceptance. Don’t allow others to control you by remote. When they try to provoke you to anger don’t get pulled in. When they hurl insults don’t engage in verbal combat. Let self-control intercede. DON’T be disrespectful NOR let anyone disrespect you. Wait and respond when and if you feel it’s necessary. Just let them feel the impact of their own tongue. There are many things that won’t be understood on this side of heaven. Just remember God knows your heart. The spiritual armor must become a habitual attire.

Our purpose is or should be to please and Worship God. Worship does not only exist between 11:00 a.m.– 1:00 p.m. on Sunday morning. The true worshipers must worship Him in spirit and in truth. We should live a life of worship. We do this by acknowledging His authority in our life and being obedient to His WORD. We should encourage others to embrace the scriptures and accept Jesus as their personal Savior. Let’s be about our Father’s business. Repent! Repent! The Kingdom of God is at hand!

Don’t just go to church! Be THE CHURCH!

The truly repentant soul has an innate inclination to please God after one experiences salvation. Priorities yield to inner peace and contentment. To compromise and join the way of the majority looses its intimidation. Spiritual maturity becomes an attainable goal.

Jude encourages us to pluck others from the fire. Satan is such a deceiver. His deception allows tradition, superstitions and old wise fables to parade themselves as the WORD of God. When you study and show yourself approved to GOD it will allow you to discern and properly navigate through the deception. Don’t be fooled like the Pharisees who could not recognize Jesus; but be schooled by the scriptures and led by the Holy Spirit. Repent for the kingdom of God is at hand!!!

~ Thoughts to Ponder ~

We as believers CANNOT follow the ways of this world and live a life that is pleasing to the LORD! It really is not logical. Take a few moments or more of your time daily and meditate upon the WORD of GOD! Be encouraged, convicted if warranted and also inspired to keep moving forward growing in HIS Grace! HIS WORD is necessary Spiritual Food for our souls. It refuels, refreshes and revives us to live for HIM! Stay connected to the LORD and “PRAY without ceasing” all throughout your day!

We the people are HIS Church. We are supposed to be the LIGHT of this world… take time periodically and see if you are on the narrow path that leads to Him or the broad road that leads to destruction… Whenever necessary; REPENT & REFOCUS! Regularly take spiritual baths in HIS WORD. It has amazing miraculous cleansing POWER! We the people are to be HIS Church! Every day is a day to Worship & Praise our LORD! True worshipers must “Worship HIM in SPIRIT & in TRUTH” whenever or wherever we worship! We are the Ecclesia meaning: HIS worldwide church is a congregation of believers; we are the collective body of Christian believers regarded as actually constituting one Universal Church.

Each day is a precious GIFT from the LORD! We are to live each day as though our Lord was going to return. JESUS CHRIST is going to return for HIS CHURCH!

Know GOD & HIS WORD for yourself! HE WILL NEVER lead us to do anything that goes against HIS WORD!!! DON’T ALLOW ANYONE TO MAKE YOU FEEL COMFORTABLE IN SIN. Don’t be deceived. SIN is what actually separates us from GOD! PRAY for discernment! Draw closer to the LORD and commit to spend time in HIS presence daily. HE will write HIS WORD upon the table of your heart. HIS HOLY WORD is the “BIBLE” = It is Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth! Know and embrace HIS WORD for yourself!

GOD has already placed within us EVERYTHING we need to do and accomplish ALL that HE has created us for… In HIM we CAN discover EVERYTHING that we will ever need for Life & Living. HIS WORD IS ALIVE! Things come & go but with the LORD there WILL ALWAYS be more… In HIS time, HE WILL also; “give you the desires of your heart” that are in HIS WILL for you! Daily walk in the LIGHT of HIS WORD! Be encouraged knowing that everywhere you are GOD is with you!

God wants us to become complete in Him Part 2

Beauriful Chapel

God wants us to become complete in Him
Part 2

God is omnipresent therefore everywhere we are God is there. As believers our body is a temple where God’s Holy Spirit resides once we accept Jesus Christ into our hearts as Savior & Lord. His Word is Spiritual Food for our souls. There is miraculous cleansing power in the blood of Jesus! God wants us to daily draw near to HIM with sincere hearts. Here is how we begin to move toward spiritual wholeness.

When we are connected to the LORD He will help us become all that He wants us to be. In an ongoing growing intimate personal relationship with the Lord we can discover everything that we will ever need for life & living. God never intended for us to be dependent upon others for our security and significance. He only wants us to be dependent upon Him. This is why we need to disconnect from the world and connect and stay plugged into the Lord! This is also why He encourages us to “PRAY without ceasing.” This keeps us focused upon HIM! God is omniscient. God is the source of everything that is genuinely good. If we all were ALL dependent upon Him this world would be a much better place to live. HIS CHURCH, our marriages, our families, our homes, neighborhoods, cities, towns, states, countries and the world at large would all be a lot happier and healthier.

God wants to continuously open our spiritual eyes and provide abundant living in every area of our lives. He wants the Fruit of His Spirit to manifest and multiply within our daily lives. When we are connected to the Lord we are even more cognizant of the world and what is happening all around us, yet we worry less as we learn to trust God more. Our discernment is sharper, our inner peace enhanced and we also become more spiritually enlightened.

Life on earth is designed as a continuous experience of lessons that can help us to grow spiritually. We can elect to grow closer to God or we can grow further away from Him. Anything that is not growing is dead! I was taught by a wise loving mother that, “We are forever becoming, and we never arrive.” This simply means that there is always something to learn as long as the Lord has us on this side of Heaven. We never get to the place that we do not need the Lord! God is the ultimate Father and He can feel as well as fill the void, resolve any despair as well as correct and heal any dysfunction that persists. God loves us and wants what is best for each of us.

GOD allowed His Son Jesus Christ to die in our place. The past, present & future sins of the world were placed upon Christ on the cross. “For He hath made Him to be sin for us, who knew NO sin; that we might be made the righteousness of GOD in Him!” 2 Corinthians 5. He overcame sin in the flesh for us and has given us His Holy Spirit to help us live better God centered lives. Jesus Christ died so that we could become FREE from habitual sin! As we grow in His grace, understanding, knowledge & wisdom and apply His principles to our own lives we should begin to sin less. We are to be ambassadors for Jesus Christ! After we complete the course of life we who are believers return to Him to live through eternity. Each day we are to live on earth as though our Lord was going to return!

“For God so loved the world, that He gave his only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to SAVE the world though HIM!” John 3 Everyday: “To GOD Be The GLORY!”

GOD designed us to be controlled from the inside out by HIS HOLY SPIRIT! This is why when we accept JESUS CHRIST as SAVIOR & LORD HIS COMFORTER comes to abide and live within us! HE is our Internal Spiritual Teacher that can lead us to ALL TRUTH! HIS WORD does not say; lead us to some of the TRUTH! This is why: “The true worshipers worship the LORD in SPIRIT & in TRUTH!” We should have;”A GREAT HALLLELLLUJAH” time whenever we worship & praise HIM knowing all that the LORD has done for us. It is our choice to live each day to please GOD or live to be accepted by others and conform to the ways of this world. “The Word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart, that is the Word of Faith we are proclaiming; that if you confess with your mouth that “JESUS IS LORD!” and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you WILL be SAVED. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. As the Scripture says; “Anyone who God trusts in Him will never be put to shame” Romans 10

You do not ever have to be ashamed once you truly realize the anointing cleansing POWER of HIS HOLY SPIRIT when you are walking in the LIGHT of HIS WORD! Don’t ever let anyone make you doubt GOD’S OMNIPOTENT POWER!

When God created Adam He placed within him everything that he would need for life and living. God realized that Adam needed a life partner. He then placed Adam into a deep sleep and took out of Adam one of his rib bones and made Eve. Adam was created whole! It was sin that weakened him and separated him from God and made him doubt what God had said. Jesus made it possible for us to once again become whole. We must become sleep to the ways of this world and awakened to the things of God. We must allow Him His rightful place as our Creator & Maker within our hearts, lives, homes and places of worship. We must let Him bring forth a better way of living and ignite our hearts to sincerely “Worship HIM in SPIRIT and in TRUTH!” Through Jesus Christ we can once again become whole!

If you do not have a spouse don’t feel left out, partner up with the LORD! You are not alone. Everywhere you are He is there! He wants you to be content and complete in Him! Live before an “Audience of One!” There is nothing wrong with wanting a spouse. Your natural desires make you who you are. Continue to ask the LORD to give you a spouse who you can grow together with if you so desire.

God saves us through the Power of His Holy Spirit so we can be saved from the temptation of sin reigning within our lives. You can be physically strong yet spiritually and emotionally very weak and unstable. God wants to transform us by the renewing of our minds through His Word! God wants us to be or become happy married or if you are single. He has placed within us a void that only He can fill. We can have a Gethsemane experience when we commit to spending time alone with the Lord in prayer and meditating upon His Word! God wants us to repent of our sins. It is through the power of His Holy Spirit that we can be spiritually refreshed refueled & renewed. God wants us to become whole!

We can share our thoughts and ideas as well as manmade approaches to seeking wholeness. There is a degree of good in some of the philosophies of man. However one must pray for discernment to better understand the will of God. The infallible Word of God and His principles for life & living will always remain superior. It is important to keep in mind that God is our Creator and Maker of this world that we live in and knows what is best for each and everyone of us at all times. He did not make us to be robots. He made each of us uniquely. Once we truly accept Jesus Christ into our hearts His Holy Spirit is awakened within us. His Holy Spirit internally resides and becomes our Spiritual Guide and Comforter. He is the ultimate wonderful Counselor!

God does not want us ignorant of His ways. He has not left us alone to struggle here on earth. One just needs to sincerely and diligently seek Him and His Word above all else. “So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live in Him, rooted and built up in Him, strengthened in the FAITH as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness. See to it no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the basic principles of this world rather than in Christ. For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form, and you have been given fullness in Christ, who is the Head over every power & authority.” Colossians 2

We must live or begin to daily live our lives to please Him. “Therefore, I urge you brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God! This is your spiritual act of worship. Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to rest and approve what God’s will is ~ His good, pleasing and perfect will.” Romans 12. God’s will for us is to become whole! We have no righteousness of our own. But through the power of His Holy Spirit we can be cleansed from all unrighteousness. GOD does not and cannot lie. HE IS The SPIRIT of TRUTH! He can daily renew our hearts and our minds. We in turn have to offer ourselves unto Him and embrace and implement the Truth of His Word within our own personal lives. Therefore we pray; “Your kingdom come! Your will be done on earth as it is in Heaven!” Grace, Joy and Peace to you in Jesus Name. Yes GOD can make us whole! Yes we can strive for spiritual perfection! Yes we can become complete in HIM!

Lamentations A Case Study in Sorrow & Grief

Lamentations of Prophet Jeremiah

Lamentations of Prophet Jeremiah

~   Lamentations   ~   A case study in Sorrow & Grief

The book of Lamentations is a riveting historical narrative of the prophet Jeremiah’s agonizing heartfelt disconsolate melancholic despondency.  Jeremiah scribes in detail an impressive account on the fall of Jerusalem.  He candidly expresses his cavernous emotions and sorrowful laments of his soul. The Holy City has died!   He is overwrought with pain from the tremendous losses not just for himself but for his people and the nation at large.  Jeremiah is known as “the weeping prophet.”  No doubt he was despondent over the devastation of Jerusalem, the destruction of the Temple as well as the disaster that was upon his people for their disobedience.

These Old Testament Laments are analogously written in the same rhythmic cadence of the ancient Jewish funeral songs. There are five dirges in Lamentations.  Four of the five chapters contain 22 verses except chapter three that contains 66 verses.  Here in Lamentations you will discover laments of wisdom, ritual and prophecy.  Jeremiah reflects back on what has been. This elegy is laden with a plethora of   depressive moments that takes us into the darkness of emotional pain.  It is a definite funeral “dirge” reflective of the mournful end of what was.   God’s people have rejected His will and His way and forsaken His principles to the point of utter pandemonium!   Many of Jeremiah’s prophecies have fallen on deaf ear!   He stands alone, sorrowful, isolated, misunderstood and rejected, his tears plenteous and bountiful due to his genuine care and concerns.  It is only because of God’s mercy they have not been completely annihilated, yet carried away into Babylonian captivity by King Nebuchadnezzar.

.

This Old Testament treasure contains a wealth of spiritual wisdom that can help us better navigate through “the valley of the shadow of death” today.  It provokes us to introspectively examine our own emotions and sins under the spiritual microscope via the Word of God.  We must become cognizant of the things that are happening all around us, within our homes, our nation, the world at large and especially within God’s Church!   We today can relate to what has happened here in Lamentations to degree right now. The calamities that we see happening today around us are a reflection of aberrant rebelliousness and the abandoning of God’s intended purpose for His Creation.

Sin separates us from God!   To sin means that we have missed the mark.   Let this passage of   Scripture marinate in your mind as you ponder this narrative on Lamentations if you will.  The Word of God teaches us “for all have sinned and fall short of the Glory of God, and are justified freely by His Grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. God presented Him as a sacrifice of atonement, through Faith in His Blood.  He did this to demonstrate His justice, because in His forbearance He had left the sins committed beforehand   unpunished – He did it to demonstrate His justice at the present time, so as to be just and the One who justifies those who have FAITH in Jesus…”  Romans 3

We can delve into the pain and extreme sorrow projected here in Lamentations emphatically.   We can use this as a marvelous life lesson of what has been to help us now!  We can learn much as we peer beyond the broken walls of Jerusalem.  The Temple is gone, the king is gone the people are in exile and the city of Jerusalem has been destroyed and chaos abounds!   The elders and religious leaders are also gone. The obliteration   is humongous.   Jeremiah’s tears are not for himself but for what was, what has been and what could be?   This prophet of God was sorrowful most importantly because God has been grieved as well, thus Jeremiah laments.    This is what Jeremiah says when he mourns about Jerusalem:  “How deserted lies the city, once was so full of people!  How like a widow is she, who once was great among the nations! She who was a queen among the provinces has now become a slave!”   Lamentations 1

Truly God is faithful and His compassion and wisdom infinite!  Confession and repentance are necessary for restoration.  Only God can cleanse us from the wages of sin.   Sin entices us away from what God has said not to do.

We have freedom in the Lord to choose but there are consequences for those choices.  If we say that we have not sinned the Word of God unveils us as liars.   All of us need Jesus Christ as Savior & Lord! It is His Blood by which we can be cleansed from our sins. As we embrace and apply His Word to our lives we should begin to “sin less!”   We are the saints of God!  Yes indeed!  There‘s POWER in the BLOOD!  This is why it is important for us to know firsthand His Word! “The Lord is righteous, yet I rebelled against His command. Listen, all you peoples; look upon my suffering. My young men and maidens have gone into exile.  My priests and my elders perished in the city while they searched for food to keep themselves alive. See, O Lord, how distressed I am!  I am in torment within, and in my heart I am disturbed, for I have been most rebellious.  Outside, the sword bereaves; inside, there is only death. People have heard my groaning but there is no one to comfort me.” Lamentations 1 God used the Babylonians to punish His people for their rebelliousness.   Today; Lord help us!

Here in Lamentations we learn that there is always Hope in the Lord!  Jeremiah encourages the people to pour their hearts out to the Lord!  Worship had become stale and ritualistic, false prophets and misleading oracles were given to the people.  They embraced what they wanted to hear opposed to what God wanted them hear.  No doubt Jeremiah’s prophecies where thought to be negative.  We often shriek at the thought of what we perceive to be negative.  Listen closely “The visions of your prophets were false and worthless; they did not expose your sin to ward off your captivity. The oracles they gave you were false and misleading.”    Lamentations 2.   Oh my!  Perhaps some of this could have been avoided only if they had listened?

The streets of Jerusalem were laden with orphaned children and infants.   The prophet Jeremiah’s heart was broken as he walked through the ruins of the city.  He knew that God was faithful but they were yet experiencing the consequences for their choice to not listen.  The few that remained faithful had to also experience the judgment brought on by the wrath of God.  Jeremiah has a glimmer of hope; he too remained faithful to share God’s Word in the midst of much adversity.   He was confident and knew that the prophecies given to him by God was true.   Even though Jeremiah was thrown into the depths of a cistern and left there to die the Lord had favor upon him.   He knew at some point he could count on the future restoration of Jerusalem.  “Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail.  They are new every morning; great is Your Faithfulness, I say to myself, “The Lord is my portion; therefore I will wait on Him.” The Lord is good to those whose hope is in Him.  To the one who seeks HIM; it is good to wait patiently for the Salvation of the Lord.”   Lamentations 3

While Jeremiah laments he is reminded of the fuming sulfur that destroyed Sodom & Gomorrah!  Now the sins of the false prophets were apparent.  All Jerusalem’s material goods that had not been taken for spoils lay before them marred or destroyed within the ruins of this collapsed wasteland.   Many of the priests and prophets became defiled rather than maintain their dignity and duties of the Lord.  They neglected their responsibility to be role models and examples to the people causing Jerusalem’s ultimate downfall; they conformed to the ways of the world!   Before the elders, priests, judges, magistrates and leaders would sit at the gates and articulately discuss religion, politics, current issues and their business affairs.  “Now desolate the jackals   were prowling all over it”    Lamentations 5.  Here in this marvelous narrative Jeremiah captures the bitter, astringent longsuffering that this nation experienced all because they got caught up in sin and turned their back on God! We who confess to be God’s people must be willing to succumb to a Holy sadness of remorse whenever we are found to be in err.  We must pray fervently and weep whenever necessary if we have sinned and then sincerely repent.

We must also PRAY for The United States of America & this world at large to REPENT… ONLY once Refreshed and refueled we can gracefully rise once again and obediently embrace the marvelous principles for life and living within the oracles of God through the Power of His Holy Spirit!  As we walk in the principles of Your Divine & Holy Word;  May Your Favor rest upon us Lord in Jesus Name! “To God Be The Glory!”

Lamentations concludes: “You, O LORD reign forever; Your throne endures from generation to generation.  Why do You forsake us so long? Restore us to Yourself, O LORD, that we may return; renew our days as of old unless You have utterly rejected us and are angry with us beyond measure!”   Lamentations   5
