Are We Ready For Marriage ?

God has instilled in all of us a desire for relationship. But we must realize that our true security and significance can only be unearthed and experienced in a relationship with Him. When we embark upon the quest for a partner, we must keep in mind God’s principles. One of the main problems occurring in marriage is “being unequally yoked”. One common denominator that is essential for a successful relationship; God must be Lord of both lives!
Light and darkness can not have true fellowship.
How can a Godly woman expect an unbelieving husband to be subject to God. How can a Godly man expect an unbelieving wife to be subject to God as well. Submission is a humble compliant act. It means submitting to the authority of another. God is a God of order. The husband submits to God. The husband and wife in turn submit to one another. The goal of marriage is to experience the spiritual and physical oneness God has deemed attainable.
In marriage both partners must be willing to give up selfishness for the sake of the relationship, as well as forsaking all others. God does not want us to have a joyless experience. Jesus died so we might relish “the abundant life”, abundant means plentiful, overflowing. He wants our lives to overflow with the fruits of His spirit. They are: Love, Joy, Peace, Long-Suffering, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness, and Self-control. Galatians 5:22-24 (NKJV).
The scriptures says “Wives, submit to your own husbands as to the Lord. For the husband is head of the wife, as also Christ is head of the church: and He is the Savior of the body. Therefore just as the church is subject to Christ so let the wives be to their own husbands in everything. Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for it, that He might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the Word, that He might present it to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that it should be holy and without blemish. So husbands ought to love their own wives as their own bodies; he who loves his wife loves himself. For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as the Lord does the church.” Ephesians 5:22-29 (KJV)
To walk in the spirit is to be controlled by the spirit. It is the infilling of the Spirit we must pray for over and over and over again. When a wife submits to her own husband as to the Lord the Lord’s order is established in the marital relationship. But remember the husband must be subject to the Lord. When we are walking in the Spirit this type of relationship is possible. God has provided us with a formula for a fulfilling marriage. We must learn to trust that he really knows what is best for us. Now, step out on faith.
We must ask ourselves are we ready for marriage? Are we prepared to relinquish our selfishness? Are we ready to put the other partner’s well being first? Are we willing to share? Better yet are we willing to remain faithful and to partake in the joys as well as long-suffering that life often offers? Are we truly ready to spend the remainder of our life with this person? If you can answer yes to these questions, it is quite possible you are ready?
In this 21st century more than 55% of marriages end in divorce. Divorce is taking too many casualties! It is important to take some time and really ponder if you really want to make a lifetime commitment. Divorce and infidelity are raging a battle against marriage. Don’t let your vows just be mere words!
Marriage is the oldest institution there is. God created it to be Beautiful and last for a lifetime! Think long and hard before you presumptuously commit to Marriage. Planning for a wedding is so very exciting! It should be a wonderful magnificent, memorable and breathtaking grand occasion whether its large or small! All too often it is the idea of all the exciting Showers, Parties, Celebrations and activities that many have come to enjoy rather the marriage itself! A committed marriage takes a lot of work, it does not just happen! Make sure that you have thought about the future as well. I have found more often than not the last thing a couple wants to hear while planning to marry is are you sure?
Marriage between a man and a woman is the ultimate commitment of Love! Because of the alarming number of marriages ending in divorce and resulting in infidelity, I wrote this quick easy read premarital guide that takes less than a half an hour to read! Look and listen to the news! I have heard too many couples say “I never thought about that?” If I only would have known! You do not want a life of heartache! First know you cannot change this person you want to marry! Ask you self; Do you want to wake up to this person every morning for the rest of your life? Are you willing to work through life’s challenges and do what is best for the marriage? Are you ready to close the door on all other sexual partners? Each marriage is totally different. But the same basic principles are true! Together you have the opportunity to build a unique relationship that mutually suits your temperaments! Think long and hard? Take some SERIOUS time and really think about if you are ready to say yes to a lifetime commitment! If you are I wish you a Loving, eventful, committed, lifelong, happy, God-centered marriage, “What God has joined together let not man put asunder.”
A Very PRESENT HELP, In Times of Trouble

There is so much turbulence and conflict about us in the world today and within our country as well. Few will readily admit it, but it is a great deal of conflict going on also within the Church. Many of the ways of the world have nested itself amidst God’s Church. This is, resulting in further conflict surrounding many families, marriages, friendships, on the job and in the schools. Quite often many of the unhealthy dynamics simply go unaddressed. Guilt, blame and shame take the forefront. Therefore anxiety levels, anger, resentment, depression, addictions, numerous stress related illnesses, diseases and health concerns are on the rise.
Due to the increasing awareness of the unfortunate declining economic status many places throughout the land many are living in fear and insecurity. Our nation has begun to gradually come back from a very difficult era in time. However, there has been an overwhelming trickle down global effect on the world at large. There have been strings of layoffs, numerous companies closing, rapidly falling stock prices, decreasing values of 401K’s and other retirement accounts, were in a terrible “recession” that we are still trying to recover from. It has been said that the United States has been consuming more than it produces for years. It has been quoted that just in the last eight years we lost $40 Trillion of our economy. The Washington Times quotes; “Paul Volcker, former chairman of the Federal Reserve and an economic adviser to President Obama, told a congressional committee that massive trade-related imbalances in the U.S. economy were the source of the financial crisis that produced the ugly recession.”
There is a growing concern as to the overall quality of life worldwide. Ongoing wars, continued escalating terrorists threats and due to global warming, the threat of more hurricanes, famines, floods, tsunamis, earthquakes and more natural disasters are all becoming of a greater concern as well. There has been an extreme plethora of sinless horrific mass shootings by disgruntled foreign and domestic terrorists. Let us not forget the continuing saga of scandalous political elections. All this further leading to more broken families, divorces, suicides and escalating crime, all these and more factor into the overall quality of life as we know it.
But should we really be surprised?
In spite of it all there is still hope! If you are a believer then you must know that the Truth of God’s Word is being affirmed. Jesus has said, “You will hear, of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed, such things must happen, but the end is still to come, Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of birth pains. Then you will be handed over to be persecuted and put to death, and you will be hated by all nations because of me. At that time many will turn away from the faith and betray and hate each other, and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people. Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of many will grow cold, but he who stands firm to the end will be saved.” Matthew 24 It is so very important to know God’s Word!
God’s timeless Word is so wonderfully amazing! Our attitude and perception have a lot to do with how we cope in any given situation. Conflict is inevitable. The Lord really is, can, and will be a refuge in times like these. Although a growing concern is warranted. God is able! “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear.” God’s people should always look to Him, especially when it seems as though the world is coming apart. On many occasions even within His Church the ways of the world have been embraced. But this is nothing new. Things may even get worst before it gets better. There is much spiritual warfare about us. But don’t blame God. Our security and significance must be in Him alone! God’s weapons are not carnal. One must seek to not compromise His Word. During adversity with balanced faith, families grow stronger, healthy relationships are fortified when the armor of the Lord is embraced. His Word prevails! Just know God will never lead you to do anything contrary to His Word. Man from the very beginning has quite often chosen to disregard what God has said. What we are experiencing is a direct result of those consequences. But remember, “The earth is the Lords and the fullness thereof, the world and them that dwell therein…”
Begin to consider looking to God and His principles for the solution to whatever you may be going through. In Him there is always hope! Whenever conflict arises it is so very important to consult Him. More often than not when conflict arises He is the last resort. God has given us various illustrated methods to utilize healthy confrontation. But too often pride is at the forefront and carnal methods are employed instead. I would like to share with you a tidbit from the narrative on Joseph. It is one of the many exhilarating examples you can find in the Bible: There was a “famine” or should I say “recession” in the land?
Joseph was favored by the Lord and was also his father’s Israel’s favorite. This called much conflict. Joseph had many brothers. “Now Israel loved Joseph more than any of his other sons, because he had been born to him in his old age; and he made a richly ornamented robe for him. When his brothers saw that their father loved him more than any of them, they hated him and could not speak a kind word to him.”Joseph had several dreams. In one of his dreams, “the sun moon and stars bowed down to him.” His brothers were jealous of Joseph so they plotted together and sold Joseph into slavery, they called him a “dreamer.” They then slaughtered a goat, put the blood on Joseph’s robe, went home, lied and told their father that Joseph had been killed…
While a slave Joseph’s master Potiphar favored him and put him in charge of all that he possessed. His master’s wife tried to seduce him, but Joseph would have no part of it. She in turn lied on him and he was unjustly put into prison. While in prison the Lord’s favor was with Joseph. The warden was so impressed by Joseph, even here he put him in charge of everything! Joseph was able to interpret dreams. While in prison, many things happened to Joseph… One day, Pharaoh the King of Egypt was troubled and had a dream. Joseph was called; he was able to interpret his dream. The Pharaoh realized that Joseph was wise and discerning. “So Pharaoh said to Joseph, “I hereby put you in charge of the whole land of Egypt…”
A great famine came upon the land. Joseph had planned wisely and because of it there was ample food in Egypt. Joseph’s brothers lived in Canaan were there was no food. They were sent to Egypt by their father to buy grain. Guess what? When they arrived in Egypt they had to bow down to Joseph, he was now the governor. God knew way in advance what was going to take place. In spite of all Joseph’s mistreatment and adversity the Lord was still with Joseph… He finally revealed himself to his brothers. “I am your brother Joseph, the one you sold into Egypt! And now, do not be distressed and do not be angry for selling me here, because it was to save the lives that God sent me ahead of you. For two years now there has been a famine in the land, and for the next five years there will not be plowing and reaping. But GOD sent me ahead of you to preserve for you a remnant on earth and to save your lives by a great deliverance…” (For the details of this amazing narrative, read Genesis 39-47) Look at God!
This is why it is important to “Be Still and know that He is God.” Knowing God and His Word helps us to discern and recognize when something is not of Him. This is why we must daily ask for the infilling presence of His Holy Spirit. God does not have to manipulate, operate undercover, nor utilize false witnesses. God is aware of everything. He is Omniscient! It is very important to know the Lord’s Word for yourself and develop an ongoing, growing, trusting, personal intimate relationship with Him. It is important to learn to, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not to your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight.”
We must learn to invite God into all areas of our lives. God has a way in which to resolve conflict and confront issues that is quite different from that of the world. Remember He is a SPIRIT of TRUTH! His Word is full of seemingly impossible situations that resulted in a favorable outcome. Many who claim to be Christians continue to embrace very carnal ways to remediate behavior and seek resolutions. Many subscribe to a dual lifestyle one way at home and another way is present before the Church Community. It is important to keep in mind that God is aware of everything. He knows us from the inside out. Many really do not know nor believe that His Holy Spirit really does have Transformation power! He can and is more than able to bring about a true Metamorphosis in your life. Praise God!
Jesus Christ came so that we might live differently. Throughout His Word you will find all sorts of situations that are profoundly unfathomable. Yet He saw and will see His people through. There is a wealth of wisdom found in the Word of God that is priceless. The Pharisees was the established religious order that sought to discredit Jesus. They were intimidated by Him because He did not adhere to their legalistic practices. Spiritually they were blind. They too wanted to continue to resolve things their own way. Jesus was a living example as to what one can expect when you truly dedicate your life to Him! God knew way back then what would be going on now. “Blessed is the man who finds wisdom, the man who gains understanding, for she is more profitable than silver and yields better returns than gold. She is more precious than rubies: nothing you can desire can compare with her…”
Some things just will not be understood on this side of heaven. From the very beginning God had a plan for our lives. God is so gracious, loving, kind and patient. Few know what it truly means to love. God is love. Can you really love without knowing Him? He sent His only begotten Son so we could be redeemed from the power of sin. We have been given an Eternal Comforter an Internal Teacher! Even in the midst of all the turmoil that is about us His plan is still the same. If you are burdened down by the pressures and stresses of life, I have some “Good News” for you. “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light” (Matthew 11:28-30). God may not remove every burden, every difficult person or situation in your life, but you can find comfort in His Word. It is important to know His Promises! I assure you, He will and does keep all His Promises! Even in your difficult days, His Word will be “A lamp unto your feet and a Light unto your path. I have sworn and I will keep your righteous judgments…” To GOD be the GLORY!
WISDOM – The Principle Thing

The Bible is full of Wisdom like no other book. Its content is alive and powerful! So much so that Hebrews 4 says “It is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to the dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight…” Now that is heavy!
Wisdom is to know how to apply any acquired knowledge properly. Wisdom helps us to make better choices. Did you know that wisdom is a gift from God? Self discipline comes along with applied wisdom. The wonderful thing about God is that He always gives us the right to choose. This is why it is so important to know His Word. Before you make a choice you must first realize that there are always consequences for your choices. I wonder if we thought more about the consequences first would we make better decisions. Or would you manipulate less or not at all, just for the sake of getting your way? It is very important to consider the consequences when making a life changing decision.
The Word of God talks a lot about fools and foolishness as well. There is really no need to manipulate things in order to get your way. There is no guarantee that you will still not end up with the undesired results anyhow. To desire God’s will in all things is supreme. God really does have a better way. God’s Word is simply not just something you say or repeat. It was provided for us to actually do and apply. Remember it’s active! It points us to His Way of living. God wants His Word to be “A lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path.” What does a lamp do? It brings light to the darkness. It helps us to see!
I wonder if it was really our goal to do things God’s way would there be a different outcome? Of course there would be! There is much discontentment and confusion about us. But know this; “God is not the author of confusion.” Just look, there is plenty of preaching; teaching and seminars, yet the masses are still living in physical, mental and spiritual bondage. Sunday for many is a retreat day from their real lifestyle. Is this why God says, “Wisdom cries aloud in the streets, she raises her voice in the public squares, in the head of the public streets she cries out; in the gateways of the city she makes her speech.” Look at our cities our towns our streets our schools and yes even some of our churches. God help us! God is always speaking we just have to get better at listening. If you truly allow the Word of God to inhabit your being your desire will be to please Him. You will desire Godly wisdom in lieu of immediate self gratification. You will exercise patience rather than tolerance. God tells us; ” to be as wise as a serpent and as harmless as a dove.”
Wisdom is necessary in order to acquire a prudent and disciplined life. Discipline will teach you to respond properly rather than to merely react. Wisdom will make you desire to do what is right, just and fair in the eyes of God. God really knows who His children are! Proverbs tells us “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and discipline.” Fools really do not respect or fear God. Actually they do quite the contrary. God always leaves a remnant of His people whose desire is to please Him. To embrace Truth rather than accept half truths and innuendos. As His child your inner desires are to be governed by His precious Holy Spirit.
Proverbs 2 tells us that “if you turn your ear to wisdom and by applying your heart to understanding and if you call out for insight and cry aloud for understanding, and look for it as for silver and search for it as a hidden treasure, then you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God. For the Lord gives wisdom, and from His mouth come knowledge and understanding. He holds victory in store for the upright…”
Did you know you stop short of wisdom when you accept things for how they appear rather than how they really are? Don’t be deceived. To have insight is to look beyond the surface. God’s Word tells us that “Discretion will protect you, and understanding will guard you. Wisdom will save you from the ways of wicked men. From those men whose words are perverse. Who leave the straight paths to walk in dark ways, who delight in doing wrong and rejoice in the perverseness of evil.”
God is so awesome! He allows things to take place for a season. But when you truly love Him He will always work it out for your good. He says not some things but “All things work together for good if you love Him if you are called according to His purpose…” But is your purpose really His purpose? Are your ways really His ways? Do you really make a conscious attempt to; “let this mind be in you that was also in Christ Jesus…” God really does know and that is what really matters! Remember absolutely nothing gets by Him!
The biggest misconception today that permeates our world is that many simply do not believe nor embrace the Truth and power of God nor His Word. In fact, today there is a right to do or say just about anything except; what God has to say. You now are bordering on infringing on someone else’s freedom. Or better yet a rebel. When and if you do make a sincere attempt to take a spiritual stance. You are thought of as anything but a child of God. In the eyes of your challengers, be that a believer or non believer. This is why it is important to apply Godly wisdom. Wisdom applied will give you the proper prospective and motivation. Patiently allow the Lord to direct you. You have as much time as you need to do whatever it is He requires of you. Wisdom will lead you to the path of Truth and God’s direction. Wisdom will yield peace in the midst of any and all situations when your focus is on Him.
Jesus gave up His heavenly existence with God to come live here on earth. He adorned a sinless earthen body for us! He disciplined Himself and conquered sin in the flesh for us! He lived an exemplary life for us! He died for the sins of the world for all of us! Why? So that; “We might have life and have it more abundantly.” He came so that whatever happens good or bad that we know that an abundant life is accessible through Him on this side of Heaven! What does abundant mean; it means plentiful. Plenty is relative. This passage of scripture is not just talking about having plenty money or things it goes much deeper. In Colossians Paul tells us that everything was spoken into existence through Christ Jesus . Did you know you really have access to everything you could possibly ever need once you have God in your life? He has even promised to supply “all of our needs according to His riches in Christ Jesus…”
Having our needs fulfilled is dependent upon the extent and depth of our personal intimate relationship we establish with the Lord! Just know that you are going to have plenty of everything, including trouble. But just remember that whenever trouble knocks; just remember to let wisdom answer. Remember to have your loins gird with Truth! Nothing is too hard for God! This is why His Word says “To trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not to your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your path.” Remember “the earth is the Lord’s and the fullness thereof the world and them that dwell therein.” God is a good God. He is truly worthy of our praise daily.
How do we get from here to where God wants us to be? We must begin to really embrace the principles of God Word. Ask your self how many times do you actually seek to resolve things God’s way? Can you say that you have really applied His principles? Or again have you simply opted to yield to manipulation so you could have your way? No wonder things are so messed up? Or maybe not? You can have all the knowledge in the world and still not know how to come to a resolve. God wants us to have wisdom. Godly wisdom teaches you how to properly apply knowledge. Wisdom will help you to make wiser and better chooses. Life is full of many situations and scenarios. Knowing God for yourself will make all the difference in the world. There is absolutely nothing that can come between you and God, when you truly choose Jesus as your personal Savior? It’s a personal decision! Remember, God really has a better way. Trouble or nothing else can get to you unless God allows it. God’s wisdom cries aloud. God’s wisdom is not hiding somewhere over on the sidelines where we can not find it. God wants us to access His wisdom. God wants us to live a better way. God disciplines those that He loves. Remember He says that if you must accept Jesus Christ into your heart as your personal Savior. Have you accepted His will and His way? Or have you conformed to the world’s way. God wants us to walk in the light of His Word.
It is through one man Adam that sin entered this world. It is through one man in the person of Jesus Christ that sin lost its reigning power. God wants to give you His wisdom. He wants us to discipline ourselves to His way and His will. It is only by His magnificent drawing power of His precious Holy Spirit that one truly comes to Him anyway. You have a choice. You do not have to shovel His Word or His way down someone’s throat. But yes, we do have a right to present what He has to say boldly and adamantly. Know God and His Word for yourself! Psalms 19 tells us that “The law of the Lord is perfect, reviving the soul. The statues of the Lord are trustworthy, making wise the simple. The precepts of the Lord are right, giving joy to the heart. The commands of the Lord are radiant, giving light to the eyes. The fear of the Lord is pure, enduring forever. The ordinances of the Lord are sure and altogether righteous. They are more precious than gold, than much pure gold; they are sweeter than honey dripping from a honeycomb.” They warn us away from harm and give success to those who obey them.
God really does answer prayer! God truly can and will fulfill all of our needs. However, we must first commit to get better at listening to and applying His Word within our daily lives. His wisdom cries loud in the streets…
He that has an ear let him hear!
Trapped In Addiction
December 28, 2009 by Elder/Minister DeBorrah K. Ogans
Filed under Behavioral & Emotional Health, Society & Culture
When a person has an addiction it can be totally devastating. It not only affects the addict but anyone and everyone they come in contact with. They actually are an accident or a serious mishap waiting to happen. They irresponsibly put many others in danger at the risk of satisfying their own selfish desires. Their addiction often causes fear and insecurity to dominate the lives of their family and often friends as well. It often paralyzes them in a cesspool of co-dependency, inhibiting them from taking a lawful stand.
Intervention when properly initiated can be a catalyst for repentance in the addict. You see we don’t really like to confront problems. Many will talk around and about rather than confront the issue. This does not lead to resolving the problem. Look around addictions are at an all time high! There ia a tendency to take the ostrich approach, burying your heads in the sand. Guess what? The problem won’t just go away. We often think of love as not making someone feel bad. (Except when it comes to punishing children) But we must be careful not to unconsciously support any wrong behavior.
An addict is a devotee to whatever substance they are controlled by. They surrender their will and allow themselves to be habitually, obsessively controlled by the proclivity of their desire. Their addictive need is compulsive and they will do whatever is necessary to fulfill that need. Even if it means placing others in harms way.
Buried underneath the layers is really a diamond in the rough! How ironic? God can take their faithfulness to whatever their desire is (alcohol, drugs, food, sex, dirt(pica), etc.) and turn it to good. He can work it out! The process is really miraculous to watch. But it will never happen as long as you keep your head in the sand. God will not force His way. Remember their allegiance is just inappropriately designated.
Think about the impact on your physical health!
Do you know why it’s easy to abet them in their slow but sure death? They can appear so loving and talk about the life of the party! Who needs a party? They are a party all by themselves. They are under the influence and out of control. They can be so compliant and giving one moment. But right around the corner lives Mr. or Mrs. Tyrant… They become loud, verbally abusive and obnoxious and yes often physically abusive. They can abruptly without warning embrace the reigns of violent and destructive behavior like sugar to an ant. Talk about a roller coaster! Except this ride is not very amusing. Living on the edge is their theme. Danger lurks!
Think long and hard about what kind of message you are giving to this generation. What about the children? What image do you have of yourself? Take a good look in the mirror and see what you see looking back at You! Can you even remember what it is like to NOT be under the influence? You are missing the treasures of life. You may not realize it; but your heart is troubled, and your body is stressed. Your very health is at stake.
The addict has a distorted view of Love!
The deepest emptiness and a gulf of shame awaits the departure of each subsequent binge. You feel unloved and don’t really know how to love at this point. You really need a change not a distraction. But don’t be in total despair. PRAY! There is hope. You can change. You see God really does make the difference. Just know you can’t change them, they have to want change for themselves. But you can and should abandon providing them a security blanket in any form. PRAY! Begin to shift your focus to GOD. He’s the ultimate COMFORTER. HIS HOLY SPIRIT will direct your paths as you truly learn to TRUST HIM. Begin to develop your role as their faithful prayer intercessor.
The chronic addict/abuser allows distorted freedom to his love ones. Freedom to know you can’t depend on them for anything. Freedom to know that they care more about satisfying their addiction than they do for you! This erroneous freedom can cause you to take on their responsibilities. They need to feel and experience the consequences for their decisions. Oftentimes this can cause one to reach for situations and people they can dominate just as the addiction controls their life. This is where the children suffer most. They can see something is wrong! But instead of correcting yourself you try to correct them. GO figure! Since the addict has no backbone they have a false sense of their strength. Which is in fact zero. Face it this is an extreme weakness. You cannot control what you allow to go into your body or your mouth! To the other extreme, it causes them to look to someone who will stroke their insecurities. Make them feel good temporarily. They are unable to face themselves alone!
YOU REALLY NEED SOME HELP!
Tomorrow is NOT promised! You need to make whatever call is necessary to get you some HELP!
What a dysfunctional cycle! One can become enmeshed in a sea of burdens. But I’m glad there is a burden bearer. The scripture says: “take my yoke upon you and learn of me for my yoke is easy and my burdens are light”. Easier said than done huh! But it is really possible. Begin to transfer this burden to the Lord. Embrace the scriptures daily to spiritually equip you for spiritual warfare. Ephesians is a book that let’s the child of God know that you have been sealed and deliverance is at hand. The mighty weapons of God are not carnal. Yet; they are Mighty!
You cannot change anything that has happened. But you can change going forward. You can STOP being so selfish and think about those you are imposing your addiction upon. You are not the life of the party. You are actually draining the joy out of those around you and slowly killing yourself. You are actually dying little by little, moment by moment, day by day… You need to reach out for HELP NOW! Your life is not your own. You do not have a right to destroy your life or anyone else’s life! You have made some commitments that you need to keep. Don’t continue to overindulge yourself in a guilt trip. Don’t jump in the quicksand of denial as well. The noose of addiction can be broken.
You need to muster up some strength to fight for your life! If not for your sake for the one’s you say you love. You can be healed. You can be DELIVERED! You can become WHOLE! You can be set FREE! Jesus did not die in vain. He can resurrect any life. But it is your choice. He can peel away the layers of sin and wash you by the cleansing POWER of HIS BLOOD. It takes only a little light to dispel the darkness. We all have sinned and fallen short of His glory. Therefor there is always room to grow and improve. GOD CAN GIVE YOU HIS HOLY SPIRIT! You must first yield to Christ Jesus. He CAN & WILL HELP you overcome your addiction or anything else. This is why we ALL need JESUS as OUR LORD & SAVIOR. TO SAVE US FROM THE POWER OF SIN. Don’t waste another minute hour or day! Reach out to the Lord today. He can and will be there for you TWENTY/ FOUR / SEVEN. There is VICTORY IN CHRIST JESUS!
Saved or Safe?

Just say you are saved. You don’t really have to mean it. If you just say it, this will be sufficient. We just say things all of the time. We go through the formality. “Good morning!” “Good evening!” “How are you?” Is it really a good morning or evening? Do you really want to know how the person is doing? We often adopt behaviors that appear to be socially accepted. But they are often quite superficial. No, I’m not saying that every time you see someone just give them an in-depth historical oration of your current list of woes. The point I’m trying to make is that just saying something doesn’t mean it’s so!
When we accept Christ as our personal Savior it means we invite Him into our lives. His presence of light shines on the darkness in our life and allows us the opportunity to draw close to Him or to choose to stay in darkness. Often we establish unhealthy patterns in our lives. We don’t really want to change we just want someone or something to make us feel good.
God can change you for the better. But know, you cannot be everything to everyone… Pray for discernment & know that there are those who will try to take advantage of your generosity. No matter how much or little you give it will not be enough…
“Behold the Lord’s hand is not shortened that it cannot save, neither His ear heavy, it cannot hear; But your iniquities (sins) have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid His face from you, that He will not hear. For your hands are defiled with blood, and your fingers with iniquity; your lips have spoken lies, your tongue hath muttered perverseness.” (Isaiah 59:1-3) Breaking patterns can be painful.
The Lord will teach you how to “guard your heart!” Saying yes to everyone is not loving them. Sometimes it has to be an adamant; NO!
Why do we need a Savior? The world is full of evilness. It wants to pull you in anyway it can. We are in the world but we are not supposed to be of the world. When Jesus Christ is Lord of your life you can access His power. He has the power to save us from the unhealthy patterns and pitfalls of sin that besets us. Let’s get it straight! The Comforter is not to keep us comfortable in sin. It is not a blanket (excuse my pun) to cover any abject behavior. So help me understand why it is socially acceptable within the Christian lifestyle to say anything, do anything and live any kind of way and still say “I’M SAVED?”
Well I am sorry, but the scripture says “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” Romans 10:9-10). Webster says to believe means to have a firm conviction as to the goodness of something. Romans says with the heart man believeth unto righteousness. I guess doing what I think is right is righteousness? WRONG!
We sing that we are soldiers. But what kind of armor does the Lord tell us to wear that you may be able to withstand in the evil day? Your loins are to be girded with truth. No it’s okay to believe anything anybody says especially those who say and do anything anywhere! You are to wear the breastplate of righteousness. But you hold it up with adultery and fornication. Your feet shod with peace. But I will cut you up or punch you out anywhere anytime. But above all that I will take the shield of faith and hide, alcoholism, drug addiction, covetousness……and trust I can quench the fiery darts of the wicked. Then to top it off I’ll put on the helmet of salvation. When I say I have salvation I’m safe. I don’t think so!
This may seem a bit sarcastic but it’s frightening to think one supposes he can prepare for spiritual warfare and not adorn the true spiritual armor. After all just say you are saved. The SWORD of the SPIRIT which is the WORD will clean you up and prepare you for spiritual battle. It is only through a personal relationship with JESUS and He is the WORD wrapped in flesh; that you can overcome sin, anything or anybody that comes against you in the world.
Don’t think for a minute you are not vulnerable to the attacks of the enemy. The enemy in this battle is so clever that he will try to make you comfortable in your sins. It does not matter who you are. He will try to tell you loving you is giving you what you want and making excuses for your shortcomings. This kind of love (which really isn’t love) will kill you. By the way he never takes responsibility for his actions. He always tries to distract you by saying, if you just give me this or if you would just do that I wouldn’t be in this mess. Pray for discernment. Many enable rather than help people to become FREE.There are many casualties that have an erroneous idea of what love really is. The WHEAT and the Tares are growing together. This goes from the pulpit to the door. Spiritual warfare is about taking a stand. But for assured success it must be on the WORD of GOD!
Jeremiah was a prophet who stood amidst some dark days. The Lord told him; “Be not afraid of their faces; for I am with thee to deliver thee, saith the Lord. Then the Lord put forth His hand and touched my mouth. And the Lord said unto me, Behold I have put my words in thy mouth. See I have this day set thee over the nations and over the kingdoms, to root out, and to pull down, and to destroy, and to throw down, to build, and to plant.” Jeremiah 1:8-10)
IF JESUS CAME BACK TODAY ARE YOU READY?
Did you know Jesus was mistaken for the gardener upon His resurrection? (John 20:15) We must address the garden of sin in our lives. We must root up the things that GOD does not consider righteous. Our belief in Him (according to Romans) should result in righteousness. Jesus is coming back! But we won’t be able to mistake Him for the gardener this time. He has provided us HIS WORD to clean us up. Don’t be safe, or sorry; BE SAVED. He is coming back for HIS church without SPOT OR WRINKLE.
Prescription for How To Be Blessed

Prescription for How To Be Blessed
Did you know that a physician could write you a prescription for just about any type of medication? It could be for anything as slight as a minor headache. Perhaps you cannot sleep at night. Maybe you are depressed or just stressed out. Then again perhaps you need pain medication that will soothe you after major surgery. There’s nothing wrong with doctors or medicine. They are often used as tools in part of the Lord’s healing process. But they can’t heal your soul. We often say that God is a doctor in the sick room, a lawyer in the courtroom, He is water…God is much much more than we in our little finite minds can ever conceive! Do you want to be blessed and I mean really blessed? I want to share with you the prescription that will help you weather the tempestuous storms of life. I often recommend the 1st Psalms as a prescription to be blessed by. God’s Word actually is water to your soul when you truly thirst after righteousness. Doctors practice. God heals! God’s Word is the only sure thing in this world. I urge you please take a full dosage of His Word. It does wonders for the soul!
“Blessed is the man that walked not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners nor, sitteth in the seat of the scornful.”
To be blessed refers to a deep peace, joy and contentment that only comes from God. True Godly counsel is rooted in scripture. When anyone encourages you or makes you comfortable in sin be careful. Misguided Christians can sometimes give ungodly counsel. John as Jesus’ forerunner did not continuously cry Repent! Repent! for no reason. When someone chooses to continue in sin don’t stand in his or her way. In your sincere attempts to help them there is a great chance they will only begin to blame you for their unhappiness. Remember them in prayer.
“But His delight is in the law of the Lord and in his law does he meditate both day and night. He shall be like a tree that is planteth by the rivers of water bringing forth fruit in His season. His leaves shall not wither but whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.”
God’s Word is the absolute truth. The Holy Spirit will lead guide and direct you when you sincerely desire to understand His WORD. You should find delight in God’s Word even it shows you that you are in error. Be thankful! The truth really does set you free! Allow His Word to quench your spiritual thirst. The tree that is planted close to the river has deep roots. Although the winds may toss it to and fro it can weather the storms of life. Faithfully allow His Word to flow through your heart. The Lord promises that in the proper season fruit will be brought forth. You will prosper in whatever you do.
” The ungodly are not so but are like the chaff that the wind driveth away. Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgement nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous. For the Lord knoweth the way of the righteous and the way of the ungodly shall perish.”
The chaff is the stalk of the grain from which the kernels have been beaten out. Study God’s Word to the point that you are secure in your relationship with Him. Don’t just settle for what someone else has to say. Develop an intimate personal relationship with him. Once you are saved it is to righteousness. You are no longer a sinner. You have been declared righteous through the grace of God. Did you know that Christians are the saints of God? “For He hath made Him to be sin for us, who knew no sin: that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him.” II Corinthians 5:21. You are now a child of God! Your body is the temple of God He dwells within His children! We as His children are His Church. The Church is His Bride! Sinners won’t be able to stand in the congregation of the righteous. Don’t be conformed to the ways of the world! Be transformed by the renewing of your mind. This will allow you to prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. God is totally aware of everything that goes on. God tells us to avoid those who cause contentions. God will teach you how to guard your heart. Let Him be your defense. What is hidden in the dark will eventually come to the light. We live in a time when evil is called good and good is called evil. Don’t fret because of evil doers. Just know in God’s time he will take care of the ungodly. Just know there are no ungodly people in heaven.
God is our Creator. The world is our temporary place of habitation. It is literally a cesspool of sin. God has given us His Word that has every prescription to heal whatever ails your soul. If you need guidance he will lead you. Just trust Him with all your heart. Jude tells us to contend for the faith. Sodom and Gomorrah really were destroyed because of their immorality. God is able to keep you from falling. Did you know that with God nothing is impossible?
Just know that there is nothing new under the sun. Noah and his family were provided an ark for safety during the flood. When Moses was still just a little babe God provided a basket that delivered him to safety. He lived in the palace for 40 years this prepared him to lead God’s people. The Lord’s presence in the form of a cloud guided Moses when he led the children of Egypt in the wilderness. David slew Goliath with a few smooth stones. Ravens fed Elijah. Jesus fed over 5,000 with a two fish and five loaves of bread. The disciples lacked nothing! This is just a few of the plethora of examples in the scriptures that illustrate that God will take care of you. Don’t’ you want to be blessed?
Jesus is preparing a place for us after we leave here where we will live with Him forever. I recommend you begin to make it a point to allow God’s will to be done in your life. Get to know Him now don’t let Him be a stranger. Especially if you plan on living with Him eternally! Did you know your life belongs to Him? Do you think you are fulfilling His purpose for your life? What we do with our life is our gift to Him!
God’s children are supposed to be the light of this dark sinful world. We must stop compromising. It only takes a little light to dispel darkness. I encourage you to feast on the delights of His Word. Don’t just read for the sake of reading. Read to satisfy whatever longing your soul craves. Commence to praise Him everyday and seek His direction! Allow the Holy Spirit to prescribe a daily prescription of His Word. It is guaranteed that you will be blessed if you meditate on His Word day and night. By the way don’t forget to not walk in the council of the ungodly.
PRAY

God knows your thoughts, motives, desires and intentions. He even knows why and what you are praying for before you make your request known! God’s omniscience is often overlooked. Omniscience means God has universal awareness, understanding and insight. There is nothing that is said, thought about or done, anywhere or any place that He is not aware of. Omnipotent means God virtually has infinite unlimited authority or influence. Omnipresence is another attribute that solely belongs to God. God is everywhere at all times. How do I access the Father? Jesus is the door. Jesus is the way to the Father! It is through prayer we communicate with Him. Once you truly commit your life to Jesus Christ you are adopted into the family of God. He is the one and only Almighty Sovereign God!
Did you know that prayer is the key to your relationship with the Lord? Prayer is simply communication with God. Prayer is a supplication or expression that should be expressed earnestly and sincerely. Prayer is often sometimes inaudible. God tells us in His Word that we should “pray without ceasing.” Prayer in this circumstance is essentially a state of mind. God even tells us to go into your closet and close the door and pray to your Father who is unseen. “Then your Father who sees what is done in secret will reward you.” He can open doors no man can close. GOD IS SO GOOD!!! Prayer time with God will give you a healthy and clear conscience. Prayer is not always asking God for something. We should readily thank God for all He has done when we pray. “It is in HIM we LIVE and MOVE and have our being!” Acts 17 God is truly worthy of our honor, thanks and praise!
If you are a child of GOD you should relish your personal prayer time with your Father. Abba Father God is totally aware of what we need as well as what we do not need. This is why it is so important that we are honest and sincere when we call upon His name. Remember prayer is not always asking God for something! It is not something we just do in the presence of others to get their attention. But when others are in attendance you should include them in prayer. Prayer is not just mere words we utter repetitively. Prayer is not a time to just let those who are present know how you feel. The effectiveness of prayer is not determined by the cadence, tone or volume of your voice. It is not just a time to just emotionally charge others. It really is the content and posture of your heart that concerns God. To humbly and sincerely usher oneself into the presence of the Lord one must relinquish self. Any unconfessed sin hinders your prayer encounter. With God you must be transparent and real! When you truly enter into the presence of the Lord it can change the unchangeable. Prayer can heal a broken heart, life home, church, school, business or relationship. The things that are impossible with man are possible with God! “Oh give thanks unto the Lord for He is GOOD and His mercy endureth forever!” It is important when we pray, that we pray, God’s will be done in our lives. For He is our everlasting Father!
The prophet Jeremiah kept in constant prayer with the Lord. Jeremiah was called to remind Israel of the consequences of disobedience. Jeremiah fervently reminded them of their immoral behavior. The religious establishment plotted to silence Jeremiah. Jeremiah was discouraged. to the point he began to wonder why he was not allowed to just die in his mother’s womb. In his despair Jeremiah cries out to the Lord. He tries to keep quiet since he is constantly mocked for proclaiming God’s Truth. They did some of everything to Jeremiah. But The Word of the Lord is so vehement in his soul that he cannot contain it. This is when he says “His Word is in my heart like fire. A fire shut up in my bones.” Jeremiah knew that they were waiting for him to slip. They often tried to entrap him. Jeremiah was maturing as a prophet. He knew that the Lord wanted him to continue. He even went so far to tell them if they put him to death that his innocent blood would be on their hands.
When the Lord gives you an assignment it is very important that you keep in constant communication with Him. Embrace the “CALL” He has upon your life regardless of who or what comes against you… You can expect to be rejected, misunderstood and overlooked… You can expect people to come together against you… Keep looking to God. Abba Father God will keep every one of His promises! When pressured to conform it is important to be transformed by the renewing of your mind by the Word of God. Stay on the Narrow Path. God in His time will bring everything to the light. God will never lead you to do anything that goes against his principles. Jeremiah’s life demonstrates how important it is to remain faithful to God. Sometimes we must forego the support of others rather than disobey God. He will lead, guide, direct and protect us. Prayer is the key to help you stay focused when or if you are ever faced with such a situation.
Did you know God cannot ever be manipulated? There is a big difference between uniformity and unity! It is not necessary to manipulate situations or people to get your way. This is why it is important to pray and ask God if something is in His will for you. God allows many things. But He will work it all out for our good as we remain faithful to Him. He did not create us to be robots. He told us the weapons would be formed but in the long run they would not prosper against us. We are to be the Designer’s Original. We are to trust God. Proverbs tells us there is a way that seems right to man/woman? But the end will eventually lead to destruction. Did you know sometimes your way may be out of the will of God? To prevent this make sure that you consult Him often. Abba Father God always knows what is best. You will only hinder the ultimate plan that God has for your life. God wants us to be loyal and disciplined. Daily worship and prayer is crucial. Meditate upon His Word. Remember “Praying without ceasing” is a state of mind. This will strengthen your daily spiritual walk. God will also sharpen your ability to discern!
The Scriptures clearly tells us that the prayers of the righteous are powerful! Life is full of snares for the believer. Wide road travelers are plentiful. Fewer desire to travel the Narrow Path. Always Remember; “THE WHEAT and the tares are growing together…” It is in the end that GOD will do the separating. When we lift Holy hands to GOD we acknowledge and invite HIS presence! We serve an all knowing and wise God! Denial will keep you in the dark. Honesty really is the best policy! God’s angels encamp around those who have committed themselves to His will and His way. ABBA FATHER GOD IS OMNIPRESENT and is with us always & forever!!! This is why it is necessary to know HIS WORD; for it is so marvelous! God will direct you through His Word. He will even warn you. God is faithful! He is the ultimate Father He will provide a way out of no way. Personal as well as corporate “Prayer Time” are essential to the body of Christ. We must learn to relinquish our will and strive to choose God’s way.
Did you know that Jesus withstood great persecution and mistreatment? They even called Him a devil. They constantly misconstrued His teachings and His Word. The enemy is the father of lies. He always cloaks or distorts the truth! He always mixes Truth and error. That is when you know that something is not of God. But don’t be dismayed it will only last for a season. Oh! But remember “What a Friend we have in Jesus!” We are to carry everything to Him in prayer. Remember Jeremiah? Sometimes not responding at all is a good idea. But we can always internally rejoice sing and know through CHRIST JESUS; Victory Is Mine! “Through patience possess ye your soul!” Exercising your spiritual muscles will strengthen your walk. God never tempts us to do anything. As you take time daily for your personal worship you will begin to respond differently. Practice daily “praying without ceasing!” This keeps us focused on GOD. To be a disciple means you actually learn how to discipline yourself through the power of The Holy Spirit to respond in a way that pleases God. You embrace repentance in lieu of accepting denial.
You must begin to exercise self-control! You cannot please both God and man/woman. God’s way is always the best way. God’s weapons are not carnal. God tells us to “pray for them that despitefully use you!” You see it is really not about how things appear to others. What is important is what God knows! No one can undermine our character in the eyes of God. Abba Father knows everything about everyone. He always knows the posture of our hearts. Remember He knows the TRUTH! He also knows when something is not true! He knows absolutely everything! FOR HE IS TRUTH!!!
The time we spend here on earth is relatively short in comparison to the time we will spend in eternity with God. There is no need to be afraid. But you must be aware evil is all about us. We are living in a spiritual war zone. God can and will protect you from all evil. Remember the disciples sample prayer? God can and will deliver you from all evil plots… You can genuinely smile or not respond improperly in the midst of trials and persecution. This does not mean that you are in a delusionary frame of mind. Also, this is quite the contrary from being unstable or weak. The Lord will show you what is happening around you.
“Walking in Meekness is being empowered under the control of Almighty God! This does not mean that you are being self-righteous. It means your focus is on God rather than the situation. Your character will be strengthened, and your Faith and Trust will be renewed. It will also flourish. Remember with Jesus as The Conductor life becomes a symphony! God will free you! Jesus really did die for us to live differently. This is why His Word tells us “Be very careful, then, how you live-not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity because the days are evil. Therefore, do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is. Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the SPIRIT! Speak to one another with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.” Colossians 3
The majority of the work of God’s Church is “Beyond The Walls.” Yes, the work within the walls is important. Many work within the walls. Many live to please those within the walls rather than live to please God. I want to share something with you it is a lot easier to please God. God positions His children in different places. “The earth really is the Lord’s and the fullness thereof the world and them that dwell therein.” It is not necessary to jockey for a position when you know that God has a place in the body for you. We must continue to pray for those who are shackled by sin within and without the walls. Who really do not know that the gates of Hell will not prevail against God’s True Church. This scripture is not talking about the physical structure. We the people are THE CHURCH OF GOD! There is not one iota of doubt in my mind that I am GOD’S child “SAVED” cleansed, sanctified and set free by HIS marvelous Grace! There is POWER IN THE cleansing BLOOD OF JESUS!!! If you really know Him you should feel the same way. I praise & thank God for a “Solid Rock” foundation. It is an inexpressible comfort when you have a real personal encounter with the Lord. God is so great! Praise God for His Word.
Did you know that there is only one true Church? If Jesus came to your home would He be welcomed? If He came to your job or your place of business would you acknowledge Him? Honestly ask yourself if Jesus came to your church worship service would He really be welcomed? Perhaps, only if He were to tithe? Perhaps if he dressed how you think he should? Are you sure of what kind of heart you have? Perhaps if he would conform to your order of service? Only if He sits where you think He should sit? Would you betray Him like Judas? Are you really nice to everyone? Remember when He threw the money changers out of the Temple? They had lost there way. Jesus said that His Church should be a House of Prayer! Not den of thieves. They were so obsessed with the money, Jesus overturned the tables… Did you know that Jesus can provide and will provide for everything you need without manipulating others to give out of guilt? I believe He did say that “HE WOULD SUPPLY ALL OF OUR NEED according to HIS riches in glory by CHRIST JESUS.” Not some but ALL!!! Remember “Needs and Wants” are not always the same…
God welcomes repentance! Repent means to change. To turn your mind, heart, actions, body and soul in the direction God is leading. To abandon the prideful direction of having to do things your way and humbly move towards God. You must be willing to admit it when you are wrong. GOD CAN MAKE YOU WHOLE! To embrace Truth pleases God. God really wants us to live victoriously. Remember He is omniscient, omnipotent and omnipresent. God is there for us/you. God has a plan for the lives of each of His children. So, there is really no need to be jealous or fearful. Stay focused on the Lord! “He’s Able!!!” Your position in the body is the capacity in which you can function. HE knows who and if we/you are HIS Child. By the way “He is not a respecter of persons.” God really does know and see all that what we do everywhere. It is much better to just want the things that God wants you to have, to daily commit to Him and desire to live out HIS WILL in your life!
We are to daily; “CONTEND for the FAITH!”
There is much peace when you really know you are walking in the path of RIGHTEOUSNESS! How will you know when God is leading you? You know that you are not walking alone. Christ Jesus has imputed His righteousness to us. This is why it is so important to pray and obey! This will help you not get sidetracked by what others say or do. Know that God has power over darkness. Stay on the Narrow Path! Again, it is during your personal Bible Study & prayer time you can be refueled and prepared for the fiery darts. God lets nothing come our way that He is not aware of. It is our responsibility to respond in a manner that pleases Him! This will give you a clear conscious. Remember God’s weapons are not carnal. If you don’t stand for God, you will fall for anything! When you are adorned with God’s full spiritual armor the shield of faith with extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Just exercise patience and pray. God is the author and finisher of our faith. He has given each of His children a measure of faith. “Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand and rejoice in hope of the glory of GOD…” Romans 5
YES LORD!!! THROUGH CHRIST JESUS VICTORY IS MINE!!!
The Narrow Road

It is through God’s plan of salvation we are given the gift of eternal life. Once we accept Jesus Christ as our Savior we embark upon a spiritual journey. His precious Holy Spirit comes to reside within us. The Holy Spirit is there to comfort, protect, lead and guide us. To help us understand what the Word really means. His Word is there to be a “lamp unto our feet and a Light unto our path.”
In Galatians 5 you will find the Fruit of His Spirit and the works of the flesh. This will help you to know the difference between, when you are walking in the Spirit or walking carnally in the flesh. This is also another reason why it is so very important to know the scriptures for yourself. God will never lead you to do anything contrary to His Word. His Word tells us every now and then you will find a true believer. The scriptures actually say “Enter through the narrow gate, for wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life and only a few find it.”
God loves us so much that He allowed His only begotten Son to leave heaven and take upon Himself a body of flesh. Jesus conquered sin in the flesh for us. So, we might have the gift of Salvation! He was born, lived a sinless life was crucified dead and buried. Then he arose with all power! We never become the power, yet we are allowed access. Jesus truly demonstrated His love to us by actually showing us what it is to travel on that narrow road. If you study the life of Jesus Christ, you will find that He encountered many things during His life on earth. He was persecuted, mistreated, slandered, lied upon and maligned. He was called evil. He was betrayed, misunderstood and abandoned by the very ones He came to help. The scriptures are not just some mere stories written to amuse us. They are there to show us the way. To help us grow spiritually mature and encourage us on that narrow road travel.
The Bible is supposed to be the final authority for the child of God. It is supposed to be our road map for life. As His children we are His Church. The Church is The Bride of Christ. One must remain watchful and prayerful. Life will allow many thorns and thistles in order to derail the child of God. That narrow road often appears to take the form of a roller coaster? For some taking a detour onto wide road traveling becomes an alternate route. Regardless as to what is going on about us, we must strive to sincerely live each day keeping in mind that Jesus is going to return for His Church. This also helps you to be prepared for whatever obstacles are put in your path.
One must learn to lay aside the things that attempt to distract or derail your path. So much of the world’s ways has been allowed to creep in amidst the Church. There are so many trends and fades that come and go. Many of them undermine spiritual values. Therefore, popularity is not always the best route. For many it is hard to tell the difference. You must know the Word for yourself in order to not be deceived. Remember the Word tells us that the wheat and the tares are growing together. On many occasions evil is called good and good is perceived as evil. In some cases the world and its way has really become the final authority.
Learn to trust God!
Lord help us! Don’t be dismayed! Absolutely nothing gets by God! God knows who are His. Rest assured. When you truly know His Word, you would know that nothing or no one can change that! God’s Word is TRUE! Jesus stood on the Truth. God knows what has happened, is happening and what will happen. We can always rely on the Truth. People have an amazing ability to twist the truth in order to suit their purpose. To take things out of context in order to make things appear and seem a certain way. Some people will believe anything and anybody. You never have to force yourself or God’s Word upon anyone. Just be patient. Learn to “be still and know.” You do not have to stoop to their level. Just know in the long run it will only backfire. When anyone tries to oppress you, you never have to be afraid especially when you know that Psalms 27 is true! “The Lord is my Light and my salvation, who shall I fear….” Truth erases doubt and will give you a sure footing.
It takes the Truth to bring things to the Light and dispel lies. God does not operate in the dark. There is nothing hidden or uncovered to Him. “Wait on the Lord.” Study the life of Jesus. You will find that He was there in the very beginning and will be there through eternity. Many consorted together to derail Him. False witnesses were even hired to justify their case against Jesus. Simply so things could appear a certain way and cast doubt upon His credibility? To undermine His good intentions, perhaps with man but certainly not with God! Just to prove their case against Him. Jesus never sinned. He remained focused and faithful. He is our only flawless perfect example. We too must learn to keep our focus on God. You can rest assured when you know God knows the intentions of our heart. He knows everything. Romans tell us “Therefore there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus…” You do not have to walk after the flesh. Yes, we have all “sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.” But as you grow stronger spiritually we learn to sin less. This is why we all need a Savior. To help us stay on the right path. It is so important to know the Lord and His Word intimately. The Truth really can set you free. You can rely on the Truth! Not to just read it for the sake of reading. But to consistently study, embrace and digest its contents and seek your path forward. Get off that wide road traveling it leads to destruction. The Truth will untangle a multitude of opinions it will free you from a swamp of uncertainty. It is able to keep you on the right path. God really is able to keep you from falling!
The Scriptures are the Word of God
The word scripture comes from the Greek word graphe, which means; what is written. The scriptures are truly the inspired Word of God. They were written to help us navigate through this maze of life. Many times, Jesus said nothing. There were times He simply said, “It is written.” God does not intend for us to be misled. Narrow road traveling is possible. Difficult situations and suffering are a part of life. But so is His joy even in the midst of sorrows! He wants us to hide His word in our hearts. It is very important that you remain patient and be prayerful! Jesus wants us to be consistent and stable. Not to let how things appear sway you from what you know is right. In John 17 you will find another one of Jesus’ wonderfully recorded prayers; “I have given them your Word and the world has hated them, for they are not of the world any more than I am of the world. My prayer is not that you take them out of the world but that you protect them from the evil one. They are not of the world, even as I am not of it. Sanctify them by the TRUTH, your Word is TRUTH.” When you place your trust in Jesus you become sanctified. He will protect and keep you. You can rejoice and praise Him knowing He has a plan for you as well as each one of His children.
You can depend on God’s Word. It is here to help us through this maze of life. To nourish, feed, water, warn, protect and cleanse us. It is there to keep us on the path that leads to Him. But there are some things that you need to know and expect, to help you live your life seeking His purpose. It really is not about how things look to others. Know who you are and who you belong to! Always be ready to give and answer for the hope that lies within! What is important is what God knows! Do you really know what it means when you say Jesus is your Savior? It means that you are now a child of God. I must tell you, you should know as well, you also become target practice for a lot of spiritual warfare. It is true the saying that “the moment we admit life is difficult it becomes easier.” II Timothy 3 tells us, “In fact everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted, while evil men and imposters will go from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived. But for you to continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, because you know from who you have learned it, and how from infancy you have known the holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.”
For the child of God what makes it easier is knowing that the Lord is there 24/7. “He will never leave nor forsake you.” His Word is there to comfort you, help and sustain you, guide you and see you through it all. Whenever you become burdened you must learn to take responsibility and then shift your load to Him. God will never fail you! He promises to “supply all of our needs through Christ Jesus” You must read, know, continuously study, trust and allow His Holy Spirit to illuminate His Word for your path forward. The Word of God is our road map for narrow road travel. Life is a quest. Jesus is the only way to the Father.
Quite often when you find yourself in a difficult situation if you are not prayerful your first response will be to respond carnally or in the flesh. To impulsively respond and seek to gratify self or to blame others rather than take your part of the responsibility. This is again when it is important to know; that the Truth does set us free. God always has a remedy. One just has to be open and willing to take heed to His way. Remember that narrow path I’ve been talking about? Always remember the Fruit of His Spirit is available. Remember God has a plan for your life. His promises are true! Nothing is too hard for God.
Keep your focus!
Mediate on the Lord’s Word. The WORD of God tells us to “Do not be anxious about anything but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians This gives us additional insightful words to ponder when going through, “Finally my brothers, This whatever is TRUE, whatever is NOBLE, whatever is RIGHT, whatever is PURE, whatever is LOVELY, whatever is ADMIRABLE, if anything is excellent or praiseworthy think about such things. Whatever you have earned or received or heard of Me, or seen of Me put into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.”
Yes indeed, God is truly awesome!
Moving To Higher Ground Part 1

What do you do when you know that you have earnestly and sincerely tried to help someone? When they have come to you to help them when nobody else would? When you have gone out on faith and taken a risk to support them. Well you now know that they did not value keeping their commitment. In turn you have been slandered, lied on, cheated, talked about and mistreated. Well you have compassion for them. You realize they really do not “fear God.”
When my helping is not helping. I’m not helping!
This is in no way means helping by being a “busybody” in the affairs of others. Time is precious and it is “time out” for games. Not everyone believes in being responsible or keeping their commitments. It is when you are approached with what appears to be sincerity you consider helping? This is actually when you help someone who really wants to help themselves to you. Now it appears you were not responsible because things did not turn out as they hoped despite the minimal effort they put forth.
It has been a bit disheartening to know what great lengths that others will go to and band together, just in order to discredit you. But what they do not realize is they cannot discredit you in the eyes of God. Somewhere down the road they will see that they missed the opportunity. What do you do? You Praise God daily for His Omnsicience. You now better understand what not to do. And yes, praise be to God you become the wiser for it. You go to “Higher Ground,” and give them and it to the Lord.
Plant Your Feet on Higher Ground
They will sink even lower to convince others of something that is simply not true. They will even dredge up false witnesses, really, all because you would not continue to succumb to their desires. Meaning you would not allow them to use you. Your good intentions have now been undermined and misconstrued. What do you do? You certainly do not have a pity party. In fact you can be thankful because you have become wiser realizing that your discernment has been sharpened. Now you plant your feet on “Higher Ground” and again, you simply take it to the Lord!
Jesus knows just how you feel. Despite everything they have done, did you know that you have really gained a lot? It really does not matter how it makes you look a bit gullible. You know that the Lord knows better. Your faith and trust in Him has deepened and you are steadily moving towards “Higher Ground.”
The truth is; There are those who have an interesting perspective about what it means being Christians. I realize for some it means to attend worship, have an emotionally charged good time, get involved in all the activities going on, fellowship and hang out. They can also perform very well and get their shout on. And yes when they leave; “Church was Good!” After all this is what has been taught to many… But not really want to make an effort to go deep into the Word and daily embrace the principles of GOD.
Well, after all we are “Saved by Grace!” So you really cannot expect them to want to really get to know the Lord on a personal level.
I have learned it is wise to be very selective. When you help others do not expect them to do the same for you. When you are there for them the Lord knows. It is the Lord that will bless you when you are sincere no matter how things turns out. Keep in mind Christ Jesus is our Best Witness. Think about it? By the wa, where we all those people that Jesus helped when they were crying; “Crucify Him!”
The point is;
To some degree you must just grin and bear it. You must hold on to the fact that if the truth would really be told you know that they would not know how to tell it. There is a saying that “The truth can go all around the world. But a lie just has to walk across the street.” There is something so seductive about lies that some people will believe anything but the truth. But really they have been deceived. I am sure you have heard the old adage, “give them and inch and they will take a mile.” There is so much spiritual warfare on the horizon. You must learn to guard your heart. Stay alert at all times. Know the Lord’s Word for yourself so you will not be so easily swayed just by how things appear.
Learn to be content in the Lord
There is much contentment knowing God knows the Truth! God’s Word is so exhilarating! Remember what it also says about itching ears? It says; “For the time will come when Men/Women will not put up with sound doctrine, Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths. But you keep your head in all situations, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, discharge all the duties of your ministry…” Timothy 4:3-5. That time is now! Sometimes standing up for what is right means to simply sit down.
Daily worship, thank and Praise the Lord. God wants us to live a life of praise. For everyday is a precious “GIFT” from Him. ABBA FATHER, “THANK YOU HALLLLELLLUJAH!!!”
When I read the writings of Paul I can identify with many of the things that he encountered. Paul was even bitten by a snake. Yet, Paul managed to remain faithful despite the things that were going on about Him. He knew that they distorted his every move. Yet he continued to live for the Lord. He was not looking for them to support Him he knew that the Lord did.
Be thankful you know God’s Word will not return void. You do not have to force God’s Word upon anyone.
Paul was persecuted for preaching the Gospel. Paul’s methods were unorthodox yet he was quite creative, steadfast and unmovable abounding in his work for the Lord. He is an excellent example of what to do when there is much chaos about you. One must learn to keep your focus upon the Lord. Learn to bridle your tongue in the process. James tells us that this will also bring about much discipline. Commence to steadily move towards ”Higher Ground.”
We daily rise to serve; THE GREAT I “AM”
We live in a Spiritual War Zone
We live in the 21st century where some of everything is going on. Yet, there is nothing new under the sun. Rest assured that the scriptures are being fulfilled. We are living in a Spiritual Warzone In this technological advanced age you can literally go all over the world today without even leaving your seat.
You can virtually communicate with both Christians and non Christians, from a multiplicity of colors, and cultures within the various non denominations, denominations, and independents, all over the world. God is so awesome! He truly is Omnipresent! He has given us so many examples of who He is and what He is all about. “The earth is the Lord’s and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it..”
God does not change! His principles remain the same. You can invite Jesus into your heart wherever you are! Do you know that you can only come to the Lord unless He draws you anyway? “Jesus is the way the Truth and the life.” He really does set you free! Free to daily live for Him. Just know that there will always be those who will throw rocks and hide their hands. But don’t worry you know who made the hands. Nothing gets by God.
Traditional Rudimentary Disciplines and Doctrines.
As each day passes I realize that I have somewhat become disenchanted with some of the “stuff on the Church scene.” I have also come across many who share my sentiments. There is no question whether they love the Lord! Dedicated without question to God & ministry. But simply have opted out, not to get involved in the man/woman induced messiness. Although, I have submitted somewhat to its timely ordinances, traditional rudimentary disciplines and doctrines, I have gradually weaned away from its constraints that quench my spirit. I openly admit that at times I have over the years gradually learned to comfortably sometimes take somewhat of a back seat position on occassions within the arena. But live life daily growing in God’s marvelous Grace.
Coliseum in Rome
I can thankfully and vividly recall what it felt like actually standing with my husband/Pastor and our group in the Coliseum in Rome Italy where they physically killed the Christians for sport. That memory is forever etched in my soul. (Here they simply try and murder you with their tongue.) But the great thing about the Lord it does not work in the spiritual arena. God knows For this I thank & praise God; I fear no Man/Woman. Hallelujah anyhow!
When it comes to the expected systematic functions from a birds eye view at times I do take a back seat. But from a shore line perspective I have launched into deep waters, knowing that my deeply planted roots in His Word will sustain me till I see the Lord face to face…
True Ministry is never for show or to entertain others. It is to be used by the Lord as His willing vessel. I know that I can praise Him, preach, teach, proclaim and live out loud the Gospel anywhere at anytime. It is God I/we daily live to please. I cannot fully express in words my thankfulness to the Lord for all that He has done and has allowed us to see, do and experience. I know God will never forsake us. I am eternally grateful for His omnipresence wherever we are or go. I know that “the earth is His and the fullness thereof…” It is so important to know the Word of God for yourself. On a personal level, I find my love for the Lord’s abiding presence in my daily life is ever increasing.
What Does It Mean to Love? Part 1
December 28, 2009 by Elder/Minister DeBorrah K. Ogans
Filed under Marriage & Relationships
What does it mean to love someone? Does it mean you give them everything they want? Does it mean letting someone run over you? Does it mean you tell them what they want to hear? Does it mean you never make them angry? Does love ever end?
Webster defines love in this way; strong affection for another based on kinship ties.
Example: maternal love for a child. Attraction based on sexual desire. Admiration or benevolence. Warm attachment, enthusiasm, or devotion. A beloved person: Darling. Brotherly concern for others. To hold dear. To feel a lover’s passion, devotion, or tenderness. An unselfish concern of God for man.
The scriptures tell us that “God is Love.”
Tell me can you really truly love someone and not know God? Or better yet to the degree you know God; does it help you love in a profound way? According to I Corinthians 13 LOVE…….is PATIENT…….is KIND…….does not ENVY……. does not BOAST……. Is not PROUD…..is not SELFISH. Keeps no record of wrong doings…….does not DELIGHT in EVIL….but REJOICES in TRUTH. Always protects. Always TRUSTS. Always HOPES. Always PERSEVERES.
Does your definition of love encompass Biblical principles? Guess what? Well, whenever the above are not in operation it is not love. We all should seek to improve how we respond in love. Guard the Love the Lord Blesses you with!
I have found that love is a term that many people use loosely.
If you listen clearly they usually base love on doing or not doing something for them. Love is not giving someone what they want. Love is not letting people run over you. Love is not telling people what they want to hear. If you love them you will speak the truth in love. Just know when you truly love people they will get angry with you sometimes! Learn to be “angry and sin not!”
I am eternally grateful that the LORD has bestowed His Love upon our lives and our marriage. I can say we genuinely love, appreciate and respect one another as husband and wife. It is not something we take for granted. We both are able to stand firm as individuals in what and who we believe in. Together we have faithfully allowed the Lord Center Place within our marriage. We have traveled the world together and thoroughly enjoy spending quality time with one another.
We are thankful to Abba Father God’s Holy Spirit His Comforter. There is never question as to His Divine intervention in bringing us together. This was confirmed by our late Elder Pastor/mentor. He told us it was important to not let anything come between the “circle” of our God given love. We have held his godly wisdom dear to our hearts for many decades… We have always appreciated and respected the spiritual “One-ness” that is attainable in “HOLY MATRIMONY!” It has helped us to weather the storms of life as well as the plethora of mountaintop experiences. We enjoy, genuinely love, respect, trust without doubt and care passionately for another. Know this in God’s eyes “The marriage bed is undefiled!” By God’s grace we have raised our children in a balanced, loving, healthy, stable, safe environment. This is something our children can also attest to. Christ Jesus is our best witness.
I am most thankful for God given coping skills.
There is a Joy and an unexplainable Peace that is present even in the midst of sickness, sorrow, contention or spiritual warfare. The HOLY SPIRIT is a wonderful SPIRITUAL COUNSELOR! GOD’S TRUTH is POWERFUL. It will not allow you to freely move in denial but rather seek TRUTH. (ABSOLUTELY NOTHING ANYWHERE IS HIDDEN TO THE LORD) A lie will keep you in bondage. There is no place in truth for delusional illusions to persists. I/we Thank the LORD for “Sound Minds!” And an undoubtable constant awareness of GOD’S OMNIPRESENCE everywhere you are. Always seek the TRUTH above all else… I fully realize without the Lord I am nothing but walking breathing shaped formed dust. Yet in Him I am confident knowing that within me His Holy Spirit resides.
As we submit to the “WILL & WAY” of the LORD HIS HOLY SPIRIT leads us to ALL TRUTH!
It is important to readily strive to resolve conflict. It only serves to limit your own “Walking in the Spirit!” Feelings need to be validated. Discipline needs to be embraced when responding or not responding. Confrontation exercised from the perspective; “this is how you feel” Be willing to “REPENT” whenever in error. Choose freely the path of spiritual growth Move forward allowing the Lord to build your character. Don’t let life make you bitter always strive to “BECOME BETTER!” Life is so very precious and you do not want to spend the majority of your marriage and your relationships in “much ado!” You get stronger in this as you practice it.
There are those who have lived with much turmoil.
Rather than seek to resolve their inner turmoil they tend to continue to create it. They will often project how they are feeling upon you. Pray for Discernment!
Whenever you are dealing with someone who does not really understand love they will often misinterpret your intentions. Their perspective of you will fluctuate. They base everything on their feelings. Not usually looking at what they have done or said to make the relationship go south. Yet, you suddenly are no longer the kind wonderful person that they thought you were? All of a sudden you will be perceived as being cold, uncaring, and selfish. But yesterday you were the greatest… But now since you won’t let them have something or do something you are cold. Yet they have done little or nothing.
Go figure? Watch the double mindedness. They will accuse you of not really loving them when you don’t give them what they want. Know they are hurting and want you to hurt too. This is not the case in a healthy marriage or relationship. Even when you disagree you will reinforce your love for one another. You know one another and don’t try to reduce one another to a lower standard. You can disagree respectfully. Patience is key!
Don’t fret! God knows your heart. Pray for them. (In a trusting relationship you don’t go here…) Stand fast. Be patient and allow the Lord to bring what is really happening to the forefront. Don’t manipulate or don’t allow anyone to manipulate you. Seek the Lord fervently for direction. In the meantime pray for them. Begin to practice healthy boundaries with them. Or you will engage in a continuous cycle of dysfunction.
Many people are angry about life in general
There are many angry people who will chew you out at the drop of a hat. They have oodles of pent up unresolved anger. Cancer, high blood pressure, eating disorders, temper tantrums and depression are just a few results of stored anger and or unresolved conflict. It’s okay for them to have a tantrum. Its okay for them to vent and rant. Its okay for them to do very little. Like a spoiled child they want what they want right now. Usually at your expense. You are of course prideful yet they are justified. You are expected to appease them.
Anger is natural. It takes discipline to combat anger. Encourage them to learn to be patient and find healthy ways to express their anger. Suppressing anger is unhealthy. Just know it takes more control to not respond than to throw a fit. Did you know you can be angry and sin not?
By the way you must let go of some people you love. I am not talking about letting go like in divorce. Divorce occurs because two adults are not able to work through whatever problems they are experiencing. They are not able to keep the commitment they made to each other for whatever reason. Often this is because they really didn’t think things through first. The responsibility to nurture the marriage is not mutual.
Live and Thrive to build a lasting marriage
Many couples are unaware of the necessary tenacity for building an enduring marriage. There are also those who come to marriage to get rather than to give. They have been so hurt that they remain insulated from learning how to really love and keep the vows that they made. Sometimes they will exit selfishly living behind a wall of shame… (But that’s another column/sermonette). When I say letting go I mean putting them in hands of the Lord. Allow Him to intervene.
There are those who just enjoy a habitat of tension and confusion. They will often go the mile with a coworker or a friend and their spouse receives the leftovers. Therefore their relationship suffers. Or as a friend you will have to carry the load the majority of the time. They tend to participate in just about everything at their place of worship, or work related activities, yet their home life suffers and takes secondary place. Their need for acceptance by others is their main priority. This should not be. It is clear that they don’t perceive or understand God’s Omnipresence.
Anger and dysfunction need to be confronted. Avoiding conflict is not healthy. Did you know you could break unhealthy cycles by employing better ways to resolve conflict? Allowing a cooling off period before discussing the problem may be helpful. Always seek direction from the Lord He will never lead you wrong. He will help you to humble yourself. Learn to walk in meekness. Which is power under disciplined control.
Sharing a one sided account of what has happened to your friends will not help your relationship. It may get you some momentary support. But it won’t help you to grow spiritually. Words spoken in a fit of anger can be very damaging. Taking responsibility for your actions is always a step in the right direction. Letting go and allowing them space to feel the consequences for their actions can be beneficial to their spiritual maturity.
The world is a very inconsistent place.
God’s standards are not often respected nor appreciated by many. This is true in ministry as well. God must be the central focus of your life and relationships for true successful living as a believer. Life will present challenges. But with the help of the Lord; He can and will deliver you through it all. The prophets pleaded over and over with God’s people to return to His principles. But many still preferred to do their own thing. Knowing the WORD of GOD for yourself is important. God wants to be first in your life. Remember after all you claim you belong to Him?
As believers we have been grafted into His family. He wants us to know Him through His Word. God has instructed us to; “Hear O Israel: the Lord our God is one Lord. And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thine heart, and with all thine soul, and with all thine might. And thou shalt teach them diligently unto they children and talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest……. (Deuteronomy 6) God loves us and is faithful. ALL HIS WORD IS TRUE.
“GOD IS LOVE!” HIS LOVE LASTS THROUGH ETERNITY
Love will help you weather the storms of life. Love must be balanced. The term “unconditional love” is often misused today. I often hear SOME SAY; “I can do without your kind of love.” Well, “your kind or my kind of love” is not love at all. This is really more about how you are feeling in the moment. Remember, God sets the standard for love, for “God is Love” Unless we measure it by His standards it’s merely subjective opinion. For example; the more I don’t rock your boat you love me. Once you rock my boat I tell you to get out. Now all of a sudden you cry, “You don’t love me anymore.” As long as I let you rock my boat it’s thought of as love. This does not have to be. WRONG! This is immaturity. How can something as important as Love be reduced to such insignificant terms. This is what I call “intoxicating affections.” It mimics love and doesn’t last.
Don’t get love confused with how you feel in the moment. You can not like what someone does and still love them. It is love that actually helps you to respond properly or not respond to them despite the way you feel. Somethings will not be understood util we reach Heaven. Remember God’s love rejoices in the truth! Although it can be painful shift through what someone says to you and see if there is any truth in it. Make an adjustment whenever necessary. This is how you shape your character. Beware of counterfeit love. When you have been truly loved you will know the difference.
In a healthy marriage or relationship you do not seek to reduce the love you have for one another. You take responsibility for your actions and how you are feeling.
There are only a few that find genuine LOVE.
But God really wants this for all of us. Love is precious! It is never too late to seek GOD’S LOVE! This is true if you are married or single. “Be ye perfect because I AM Perfect” God really does wants us to become perfect in HIM. Which means to become complete in HIM who IS LOVE! No one is flawless but JESUS. This is why we all need HIM as SAVIOR & LORD! HE says; we ALL CAN BECOME PERFECT in HIM! Scriptures tells us that love covers a multitude of faults. This does not mean we ignore or condone sinful habits. Don’t be deceived. There are consequences for sin. This is why it is so very important to know His Word for yourself!
Growing your love in a healthy marriage or genuine relationship should be a mutual priority!
We are living in some interesting times when some of everything is happening all over the world. The Spiritual Warfare in these “Last Days” has heightened. The devil’s agenda is to reek extreme havoc upon the children of God as well as those in the world. He will use whoever he can. He knows that time is winding UP!
Now is a good time to seek the Lord above all else. In the Word, God says; “Is anyone of you in trouble! He should PRAY!” James 5 Humble yourself before the Lord. Be encouraged for GOD always has a way to HIM 24/7…
